Skinwalker Ranch is a widely known "high-strangeness" site in UFO lore. This entry separates the 1996 claims, a Pentagon-funded contract that involved a Utah property, and what the Pentagon's UAP office said in 2024.

Documented

Congress appropriated $22 million across fiscal years 2008 and 2010 for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), per AARO's Historical Record Report. [1]
A DIA slide ("Aerospace Contract Status") lists performance by Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies under contract HHM402-08-C-0072. [2]
The same slide lists 26 research reports received by June 30, 2009, with topics including "Warp Drives" and "Antigravity Studies." [2]
In 2024, AARO said the program also investigated "an alleged hotspot of UAP and paranormal activity at a property in Utah." AARO does not name the ranch. [1]

AARO found no evidence that any U.S. government investigation, academic research or review panel confirmed a UAP sighting as extraterrestrial technology (AARO's report covers 1945 to 2023). [1]

Reported

1996 newspaper stories described glowing orbs, mutilated cattle and large animals that bullets reportedly could not hurt. Businessman Robert Bigelow bought the ranch that year. [3]
